  • I am 70+ years of age and have spent the majority of my working life living and working in a variety of countries.
  • Throughout my career, I’ve resided in Spain, Burkina Faso, Niger, Kenya, South Africa, Philippines, and have participated in shorter missions in Mongolia, Tajikistan, Burma (Myanmar), Senegal, Ethiopia, Somalia, and many others,
  • I have a passion for languages, local cultures and history, food and wine, antiques, particularly clocks and more,
  • Now that I travel less, I have this wealth of experience and some advice as well, to share.

    Hello Hugo and pleased to meet you. It looks like you have lead a very interesting life, especially as you have resided in all these countries with totally different languages and cultures. I look forward to seeing what you are going to share on your website about all your adventures.

    This is such a fantastic initiative, Hugo. Many retirement-focused travel blogs overlook the realities of age-friendly travel — like mobility issues, access to medical care, or the need for slower-paced itineraries.
    Your experience living and working across so many countries puts you in a great position to offer firsthand insights. I’d love to see a section on “retiree-tested destinations” where you highlight locations that balance comfort, affordability, and cultural depth. That would make your blog an incredible resource.
